The National Society of Black Engineers is a student-governed organization with more than 24,000 members, working to increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers. Its Annual Convention is the organization’s flagship event.
This conference website redesign needed clean information architecture for nearly 13,000 attendees across five audience segments (collegiate students, junior members, professional members, sponsors/exhibitors, and general attendees), a living content structure that could change for six months straight, and reliable performance during registration traffic spikes.
Built on WordPress and Elementor with multi-page navigation, anchor points, and a microsite-style layout, the site supported a phased content rollout beginning with an August soft launch and continuing through convention week. Because Elementor lets non-developers publish new pages inside an existing design system, the communications team could add speaker bios and session updates directly, without a developer bottleneck during peak planning weeks.
The 2025 convention site supported 12,908 total attendees, with the WordPress and Elementor build recording 81,000+ active users and 287,000+ views over its active promotion period, and attendee feedback specifically praised the new navigation.
